hi
does anyone know owt about these
i have a set of jump leads with the small size end on but the jump point on my new van is a medium connector

been on fleabay and can't work out which one is which to buy either a small 1 of a medium to match up its all just about rating and mm2

cheers

For jump leads you need something like the Anderson SB175

The 175 refers to its continuous current rating. The SB 175 is capable to carrying a 1,000 amps for about 8 seconds. so is more then capable of being jump lead connectors.

For decent jump leads consider 35mm2 copper with crocodile clips rated at 300 amps. Don't be fooled by the garbage put on ebay about jump leads.

The Anderson connectors are colour coded which refers to an industrial standard of DC voltage. Different colour connectors of the same size will not readily mate together.

What an awesome reply, good lad.

And two connectors of the same size can have different pins according to the mm2 of the cable they are attached to so it's important to get the right size plug and pins.

I ran an Anderson plug to the front bumper to allow jump leads to be attached without having to worry about opening passenger door and seat. I know realise it would have been better at the rear of the vehicle. Question now is, what cable would be used to run this length, i used meter tails but they aren't very flexible. Where would you get the cable from and how can I 'T' into the meter cables to save having to wire back to the battery? (via an isolating switch)
Hope you don't mind me asking this on your thread Marc7?

I use altec automotive. Found them to be a reliable company with competitive pricing. They have a regular site as well as an ebay store
