Well I’m here again as I’ve bought another one.
Always find these forums a great source of info for whatever vehicle I’m running
This time I’ve went with another discovery TD5
I wanted a vehicle for shooting as I have more than enough cars but traded my pickup for a van a while back for my mountain bikes so a small 4x4 was hunted down
Looked at lots of Suzukis , I even bought an 03 Vitara but it was so badly described , and so bad ! when it turned up that it’s been rejected and is awaiting collection.
I was in a sales place on Broxburn looking at Freelander 2’s and spotted this old girl in the back of the storage yard
Guy didn’t want to sell it either.
Couldn’t warranty it so didn’t want to retail it
I eventually managed to buy it “ trade/sold as seen/ scrap etc etc”
It’s a one owner from new, 117k motor with a good service history, a full years mot and drives just fine
A little rust to consider on the chassis and one area of an inner wing needs a small patch
An oil leak , obv, but like I said drives fine
So a shooting motor , a fraction of the price of a rotbox Jimny and a wee project motor for me to faff about with in my retirement ( like I need more to do lol)
So far, before I tax and insure it , I’m £2500 in.
That leaves me a fair bit to spend on it before it’s anywhere near the price of the vitara that’s going back.
