Anderson Connector, where's yours...?

I'm looking to fit my Anderson Connector, but where to fit it is the question, so where have you fitted yours, and was it the right place?

The Mad Hat Man, is there any difference between the two connectors apart from not being inter-connectable, eg usage, rating etc?

"Anderson" Connectors, series 'SB' provide a quick disconnect solution for power distribution systems. "Anderson" Connectors are often used on battery and charger applications. They are available in various amperage ratings, including 50, 175 and 350. Housings mate together, with same color connector for plug and receptacle.

Mechanical keys ensure connectors will only mate with connectors of the same colour. Different color housings are selected to identify voltages, thus preventing mismatching of the power supply system, not to denote current capability. Please also note the contacts are crimped, not soldered and use wire AWG 1-4.

I had one lying about so I made a quick connect for my jump leads. mounted it to the battery box.

I also have a set of smaller 50amp ones lying around which I was going to use for my fridge, but no longer need it.

Can be used to connect power to trailers, solar panels, battery chargers, allsorts really - anything that needs a remote connection requiring med to high ampage draw.

I have a 175amp fitted on my front bumper. This can be used for a leccy winch or for my jump leads.

I have a 50amp one inside my rear tub. This gets used for my urn, my emergency 1500kg back-up winch and for my tyre inflator.

When I get around to fitting my leccy winch to the rear, I'll also fit another 175amp one to my rear crossmember or winch bumper.

Mad Hat Man that link was really useful, I wasn't aware there were quite so many, that site answers a few questions for other power requirements I'll have at a later date too!

from memory Yellow is 12v thats what I got cos I like to keep things like that right.

Lol I have them on a few of my trucks but fitted one to my 90 yesterday as I was fed up of 1 having to take the seat apart to jump it and 2 borrow a set of normal jump leads as all mine have anderson connectors on them.

I first started to use them when we got the cherry picker which meant I could run it off the car without the need to get the battery box out for it which is heavy!

Put it virtually in the same place as the one shown in the photo. My disco had one behind the light/battery.

I have 2 coloured ones so put the angle grinder down to take the plastic notch off! lol Now they are interchangeable.
