So I get into a 200tdi and the gearbox is absolutely spot on, changes perfect and no dodgy clunks on any changes at all. I then get into a 2008 tdci and the gearbox seems to be atrocious, clunks from 1st to second, tough to get the right gears and always takes a while to get from one gear to another. Really struggling to get a long with it. My dad is after helping me buy a tdci as well, not sure as I want one if I can't get along with the gearbox.
Does anyone else find the gearbox issues I'm having?
Regards,
Matt

The tdci box is ok, sounds like the one you drove has a problem. There is a kit to mod the detent's on the tdci box, though you have to take the box out to fit it.

Both the land rovers I drover are my dads, the tdci has only got 10,000 miles on it from new. It's more of a toy to be honest, his 200tdi that I also drover has starship mileage but that's his work horse so to speak. My dad doesn't find it hard to drive though he reckons it's just because I'm used to hAving four gears in a mini where it's like a game of hide and seek to find the right gears haha

Mines a 1340cc twin carb, with a stage three cylinder head and a high lift cam, goes like stink but not quite as reliable as a land rover. Considering keeping the mini but I see it as more trouble than what it's worth

keep the mini ffs.i had a 1340 s engine in my mini.that was a great car,flip front as well.;):D:D

It has got some incredibly bad issues if I'm honest. When it's running it is beautiful as it is at the moment but give it until Monday and something else will have gone wrong with it. I just feel more at home in a land rover anyways out in the country I'd probably of kept the mini to blast round the country roads but I live in London, traffic everywhere and ****e roads

Considering you're not old enough to drive, where's all this experience coming from?

Was wondering myself :scratching_chin: And Matt you have mentioned in some of your other post you do NOT have a DRIVER LICENSE or INSURANCE. What is up story time before getting your nappies changed and a bottle for nap time:rolleyes:

I was sat in the seat of a tractor at the age of 5 and taught how to drive it, move a lot of fully loaded skips around with it and then progressed into the seat of my dads disco 2 at the age of 7. When I felt comfortable that I could drive that up the driveway and back properly and could turn it around etc he bought me a quadbike and we took that up as a Hobbie. We now have full sized 800cc 4x4 quadbikes which we use at off road sites often as well as taking the land rovers out to off road sites as well. I'm constantly out in some form of car driving it in the front garden, no it's not a massive garden but big enough to get into third for a split second if you tried. So yeah that's where all the experience came from, it's not proper road driving but I have been told that I put a lot of experienced drivers to shame. Type in on YouTube "wardmark" and the channel with a picture of a 2008 110dc in blue is my dads channel. A lot of the stuff we do is on there, I'm the chap with glasses and longish hair if you wanted to put a face to the name.

sorry matt, but your so called "experience" is a load of bull muck.you have been driving round the garden and might be able to hit third gear for a "split second".no way does that constitute driving in any way at all.it seems like others have been brushing up your ego thats all, when you have passed your test and had a good few years driving under your belt, then you will be able to pass comments about driving etc.;)

SNIGGER Gems:pound::pound::pound:

To be fair I have not passed comments about driving, sure what I'm doing currently is not by any means the equivalent of road driving however at no point did I compare it to road driving or say it was road driving as it cannot be classed as road driving if the majority of my experience is off road as stated. I don't understand how my experience is classed as "a load of bull muck" if it's all genuine. At the end of the day my parents have allowed me to learn at such a young age and given me these opportunities to drive days on end at off roads sites on quadbikes and in land rovers.
Definition of driving:
The control and operation of a motor vehicle.
Came straight off Google and therefore I shall claim to have driving experience. (Note to gemsdad: notice how I didn't state in either of my posts to have 'road driving' experience and actually stated that I know it's not proper road driving in my previous post)
Rant over.

matt,it was not meant to be a put down in any way at all.but to say the things you have said is laughable at best.driving in the front garden,or on a field etc is not driving is it.you will get no road sense or anything by doing that.the way you said about your mini,ie i will just use it to use round country lanes gives the impression that you are a fully fledged licensed driver, which you clearly are not.driving a quad bike is nothing like driving a car is it.as for your road driving it was implied by you was it not.why rant by the way,no need to do that is there.;)
