Anyone have a home made way of attaching panels that previosly been spot welded on? The item in question is the right rear panel that has these spot welds to join to the tub wheel arch? Do you have to convert to rivets?

Araldite definitely appears to be the way to go.

Make sure you rough up the surface first, or if possible acid etch it to shift as much aluminium oxide as possible, then glue the things together :)

Plug weld,,,,, MIG or TIG
Trying to plug weld alloy with a mig is not a good idea unless you pre heat and use a high end mig.
Tig welding is good though it can make the heat effected zone brittle as well.
Id go with hamsterburg and use sika flex, friend of auto body repairers everywhere

I'd be saying plug weld too. Very simple.
Drill holes in the top piece and then fill the hole onto the back piece. This give the same effect as spot welding. You can get a 1kg roll of ally wire for a fiver or summot.
