Occasionally we get people saying how wonderful a certain reader is, or why do we knock them, but is there any reason to buy anything except the two usual suspects?

Some of the magazines push a Britpart one, but that needs a PC.

What is wrong with just getting a Hawkeye or Nanocom?

Certainly the safest options at the moment.
Main reason for looking elsewhere is the cost, but you get what you pay for I'm afraid.
@pscan.eu my develop into a good computer-based alternative.

That Lynx, supplied by Britpart has nothing to do with the supplier, it's built by Omitec the manufacturer of Testbook T4 , same as Hawkeye...100% reliable, just not that smart as Nanocom but this one has some slight reliability issues so Lynx it's a good alternative as well ... any other cheaper multivehicle version will work only in the code reading/clearing area without programming capabilities

I believe that the models that Lynx defines are broader, so D2 covers TD5 and V8. P38 includes diesel, GEMS and Thor unlike Nanocom where they are all separate licensed models.

Been looking at the Lynx that britpart supply, but not been able to find a detailed spec on its ability / limits. Does anyone know if it can add or remove things like ace, air etc?????
Oh, and will it work on a surface pro running Windows 10?

Not so easy for a quick code clear on the go. (Anyone with a dodgy gearbox switch knows this one)
Why? ... would clearing the code fix the dodgy switch? , clearing a code means nothing as long as the fault was not phisically fixed other than eventually turn off a warning lamp for few seconds

Saves having to turn off the engine to get full gearbox operation.

Remember that reverse fails first as it is a plunger and not a sliding switch.

So if it M&Ss just reset codes and carry on
