Hello all, this is my first post here. Hope I'm in the right place.
I have purchased a freelander td4 2.0 diesel. Am very pleased with this, being my first freelander.
I do, however, have an issue with the alarm when locking. Whether I use the fob or key, the car alarms after about 15 seconds. When I lock it, there is a 'peep', then all is ok, then it alarms. There is a dash light and beeping a second or so after the alarm has been cancelled.

Any thoughts would be most gratefully received.

The previous owner has advised me he had no issues at all. Am I doing something wrong? All windows and doors shut correctly.

Hope you can help

Cheers. Danny

Hi and welcome, say hi in the new members section ;)
If when you lock the car, is there is a quick honk on the horn? If so this is a mis-lock warning. It's telling you that something is open and full alarm protection isn't available. If none of the doors are left a jar and the interior light is off, then it's likely to be the rear window or bonnet switch I think.
If the interior lights are staying on then a door switch could be at fault.
If you are getting a chiming sound when you unlock the car, the alarm ECU is warning you that the battery in the remote (fob) is due for replacement.

Hello Nodge68 - I think that you have hit the nail on the head.
The interior light did not go out when closing the driver door. Also the 'door open warning light was illuminated in the dash. Then, I went round all the doors and checked windows etc, and then the dash light and interior light went out. I returned to the car a minute or two later, and the interior light was on again.
Where are the door switches located and is this a job I can do at home?
