Not every time but sometimes it goes off when I set the alarm/lock doors. Sometimes if I leave it a few minutes it will alarm ok. If I lock it with the key the alarm never goes off? The horn is so loud it makes people jump big time lol. I think it could be the interior sensors getting damp perhaps? Any ideas? cheers.

Locking with the key isolates the interior ultra-sonic detector thats why "lock it with the key the alarm never goes off" so replace the sensor.

Could be one of 2 sensors, one above the doors on the nearside and one further back on the other side, but Discool's logic is right.

Sorry yeah it's a 2000 td5 d2

In this case to be sure what's all about u have to plug it in tester and make some tests, first unactivate the volumetric alarm ...if after that the alarm will behave normally then that's it... like discool said ... though the volumetric alarm becomes active after 15 secs not instantly. If no joy with this see the setting for "mislock" warning...it can be on "vehicle horns" and then u have a problem with the drivers door motor which doesnt put enough pressure on the switch on CDL command but the key moves it enough. The D2 alarm is very complicated and it's hard to diagnose without a tester... or without plenty of blind luck;)

If you have more than one sensor then just remove one at a time from the headlining and pull the plug and leave it disconnect for a trial period, the vehicles system is not that sophisticated in that the devices are monitored for interference.

I have just seen the price of the sensor  can plugging diagnostics in tell me which sensor is faulty ?

Maybe, but unplugging them one at a time to see if you still have the problem is easier.

No it cant... the D2 alarm is managed by the BCU and this one doesnt store fault codes... u can only make circuit tests and change settings. I think it's rather a mislock though cos as i said the volumetric alarm gets active 15 seconds after u locked the vehicle.

i get this if i go toget something from the disco and lock it without putting the key in the ignition. it just beeps as if the alarm is activated again any other time it sets as normal
