is there a handy way of checking the compressor for the air springs on a discovery 2? changed air psrings last year so they ok, checked 30amp fuse and relay also ok, not lifting on the high lift and feels soft when driving.don't want to jack up cause then if sensors deflate air springs and can't pump them up an snookered.Ideas welcome!

I would have said that it's ride height sensors, but then you said it feels soft when driving? In what way soft?

Can you confirm that the rear is at it's normal height at the mo?

....not lifting on the high lift ......Ideas welcome!

It means that U push the ORM and not lifting more??? ....meanwhile the indication on dash makes it's "program" and the ORM light remains continuosly illuminated with the height unchanged?

1.If the answer is YES then I'll have to think about it cause is strange.

2.If It's NO then the handyest method to check the compressor is to activate ORM......if it's lifting = the compressor works fine.

unladen it looks ok,but had several people in earlier and it sank, but does look ok again once people got out, tried button on dash to raise, light goes on but does not raise, when driving away chimes and light goes off as if it's returning to "road" height, but no actual change in height one way or the other???

When u activate ORM the light must flash some seconds then stay illuminated.....it chimes and goes out cause ORM deactivates itself over 30Km/h.

If U load the car and it's sinking means that SelfLevellingS is not working = SLABS ECU doesnt get impulse from height sensors or it gets it but doesn't/couldnt activate the compressor.

First check 30A fuse and SLS relay on the engine bay fusebox

first thing I checked was 30amp fuse and relay. told by couple of land rover workshops over here it was definitely the compressor. Ordered one today from breaker in Wolverhampto for £150, new one was £260 at best.
Thanks.

easy way, remove drivers side plastic panels in rear and the carpet boot floor, ignition on and press orm button, then listen for compressor, if no noise, strip the compressor cover off, and check for 12v at the pump!

Why would you do any of that? The compressor is located on the chassis, just under the passenger front seat.

Remember to have ALL DOORS SHUT when testng the compressor. It won't work if you have any door open.

thanks for the help guys, tried all above and re-checked. light came on dash today aswell so definitley fault though light went off when stopped and restarted. absolutley no life from the compressor and now that I think about it last few times I worked at back of it she struggled to raise herself after deflating air bags while jacked up.We'll soon see when I get the new one and fit it.
