Hi ive just fitted a replacement 300tdi lump into my 96/p disco after the original blew up i changed the diesel pumps over as the original had a plug connector on and the new one was a spade connector ive timed it back in again but everytime i bleed the fuel system it just fills with air again and the fuel comes out from the top of the tank and creates quite a large puddle ive bled it from the fuel filter screw, fuel pipe to pump ,pump to injector and return pipe and all the injectors but the air stays in it. there are 2 vacuem pipes with the same curve on them which line up with the injectors but i cant see were the other one goes ive tried them both on the injector pipe. Can anyone help as its been off the road for nearly a month now and its really starting to p### me off:mad: cheers steve

Switch the electric supply wires to the pump, the pump could be rotating the wrong way . Worth a try nothing to lose:)

thanks for the tip the plugs are colour coded blue and black but i tried swapping plugs round just in case but no joy, battery seems a bit flat again so its back on charge. Battery was new last month so i dont think its that

i was told today that my glow plugs might be problem so pulled them all out and cleaned them up still no joy. tried bumping it, it will run when towed in gear but will not rev and when the rope goes slack or you dip the clutch it cuts out. Anyone got any ideas where to go next?? grateful for any advise

pump is off original engine with black box covering stop solenoid i presume, there should be a leak off pipe going from 4 to 1 injectors then to rear of pump through banjo bolt with very small hole this the goes back to tank ,another pipe that comes from turbo to wastegate actuator tees off to diaphragm housing on top of pump turbo pressure comes through this to alter pump for increased air, fuel is sucked from passenger side pipe to sedimentor (best bypassed)to lift pump to filter to front banjo on ijnector pump (large hole),putting clear plastic pipe between injector pump and filter is good for checking system and good mod to do ,is turbo feed for pump going to fuel side

got turbo feed pipe on the same banjo as return pipe and have now taken out the landrover fuel filter and put a clear inline filter in pipe ive changed the fuel pump with the one from the old engine is this called the lift pump? i havent looked at the sedimentor yet would i bypass it with normal fuel pipe? battery dead again now so had to stop ill try sedimentor tommorew then im going to admit defeat on it. I will need to find a landy mechanic in the hayes, heathrow area if anybody know one???

feed pipe from turbo put to return ,it goes to diaphragm ontop of pump it would fill tank with air injector leak off goes to rear pump banjo

Hopefully found the problem with the engine. Redid the timing and took off the rocker cover to find 3 broken rockers 0n cylinder 1,3 and 4 and 4 bent push rods. turned engine with them all taken out and it seems to still have compression. Dont know if it happened when i changed the injector pump or if it was already like it when it arrived. Another lesson learned, when buying from ebay check everything first!!
