Now I know disco 1 aircon doesnt have a great repuation as being particularly effective or having any gas left in them as they age they are but mine was a gooden and even had it re gassed last summer and all was well.
With the weather warming up I have wanted to use it again recently but found it wont turn on. A/C switch wont illuminate and clutch not engaging)
Can anyone suggest the best place to start? I have checked all the fuses under the dash and they are all good. If it was a faulty relay would that stop the A/C light coming on or is the light on the coil rather than the output of the relay?
One more weird thing which might help narrow it down. Last weekend at the beach, car had been parked in hot carpark and after starting the car I heard the electric aircon radiator fans come on at full power and the a/c light came on. (switch was already left pushed in/on position). After pressing it again to turn off it wouldn't come back on again. So it seems like it has the ability to work when it wants to albeit rather intermittent!
