Hello all, ive recently replaced my battery and fixed the manual gear bias plate is fixed, all was working fine, been out for a few drives, then my son used it on the fields to kart some wood about - went to start it yesterday and all it does is click the starter relay and then i get the engine warning light flash 8 times, i dont have a scanner tool so im a bit in the dark as to what could be the problem. Ive charged the battery and that hasn't cured the problem..
appreciate any help
thanks all

Doubt it is the starter motor, when mine played up it never light up any warning light.

Needs diagnostic.
Most likely you are correct, that's why I mentioned not see the engine light flashing.
BUT it did put up a fault code when I got it to turn over, it was interrupting the cps signal.
Confirmed by plugging in the Foxwell.
My experience on such matters has now run out.

When my starter motor played up I din't bother to unsheath the Foxwell, just got on and fiddled around until I fixed the starter by replacing the contacts.
Your thing about the CPS sounds much more likely, although I have no idea what his son can have done to cause this!
Coincidence maybe!
Ditto re the experience of this problem!;);)
As it is an engine fault, wonder if an ornery cheapo OBD2 diagnostic might find it? So far the OBD2 part of my Foxwell has successfully diagnosed the faults on the wife's Citroen!

My son has used his Foxwell on works colleagues vehicles more than on his D2 or my Defender.Diagnosed the dpf injector fault on the Transit minibus at his work.

The EML is supposed to flash only when the 5 pedal purge sequence is started and then for about 3 minutes never for other reason or just few times so that's a real oddity beside the starter issue... if the click is loud(ish) coming from the starter area then the solenoid repair kit is needed , if the click is just from the relay replace it and check the small lucar connector to the solenoid cos it used to get loose... i hope you checked the starter's main fusible link though
