Ok..i'm doing a search at the same time as i write!!

Friend in Spain has called me, his P38 is not starting, dash says 'engine disabled'.

I'm not familiar with the P38..if he has the key code does he put key in door and do the 5 left 2 right thing with the 4 number code?

HELP!! Ok..he's doing the code thing with the lock, but after the first 2 numbers the back door isn't locking..and the remote isn't working at all, he's changed the battery 10 mins ago too...any help outy there??

he going to have to walk away for 30 mins, it prob his key out of sync. press lock button turn to lock hold 5 secs, same with unlock.

:welcome2:hi storm tell your mate to check out my last post on how to enter eka code and syncing fob key ,, tell him to follow exactly how i said starting with 4 turns to left then starting the code system and ensure all doors boot and bonnett are closed properly before procedure ..any probs tell him to p.m. an i will help further if necacary .regards mozz:)

Still no joy . Key opens car and turns ignition but fob not working for doors. He's given up for the time being...tried 4 to the left then the keycode...ignition still says 'engine disabled'.:confused::confused:

Wait for message to dissapear from dash, then try again. Replace fob batteries.
Do a fob sync first, insert key into door, turn and hold anti clockwise whilst pressing the unlock button for 5 secs. repeat but now clockwise and with lock button pressed for 5 secs.
you will see the fob light flash slow then flash fast, when its flashing fast this means communication has started.
Follow the instructions for EKA lockout procedure. 4 turrns to the left, then the next one is right so on etc the last part is to turn to UNLOCK. you should have the locks pop up.
you may also get a message if you insert the key into the ignition saying press unlock on fob or similar.
But if you have disconnected the blue wire from the RF box in the parcel shelf then it wont work as your too far away for it to pick up.
I have always noted this engine disable message when I ignore the low battery fob message. Keep new fob batteries in the glovebox!

Good luck

You cannot do a fob resync if the vehicle is in an alarmed state
Not all P38,s require the initial four turns before entering the EKA code. The early models do not and doing the four turns will cause the EKA code to be misread and may cause the BECM to go inot a permanent alarmed state.
The flashing of the fob led does not necssarily mean the fob is working or communicating.

If the "dheck engine " light on the instrument panel does not illuminate when ignition key is turned to position 2,then the BECM and engine ECU have lost resync.
