Can anyone recommend a good reliable aftermarket parts supplier/maker?

Need a few bits, and am thinking I can save some money and/or improve on the quality of some OEM parts.

Most of the indi LR parts sell Genuine, OEM or pattern parts and give prices so u can decide but not all will sell everything so no "one stop" shopping sometimes.

Service items you can get them local, pads, filters. battery etc and are normally pattern parts but u can use genuine if u want too.

I would only use genuine parts for major items so would search prices on the web, Rimmers Bros seem to have everything, or use a main dealer but they are 35mile round trip for me just over 2 gallons :D

Another vote for Paddocks. I've been using them for the last 8yrs and they have been great - not always the very cheapest for everything, but overall it works for me.

and if you order the genuinne LR part they still send you ****part

I thought Britpart were supposed to be ok?!?!

I'm getting the impression that I'd be better off with genuine CV joints.

What about the 'uprated' stuff for offroading like steering arms, suspension etc. Is that worth it, or stick with the original?

you obviously havent been doing this long, britpart are **** there are hundreds of threads of people who got badly made parts or they prematurely failed
upgrades are fine if you need them, but unless your using it offroad reguarly then its pointless

You're right - brand new to owning a Landy. I will officially delete Britpart from my favourites in IE. ~Thanks

Are Bearmach any good?

I have built most of mine up from britpart, not found a poor quality part yet, and trust me, I've rebuilt the whole drivetrain and a **** load of other stuff.

I whole heartedly disagree with the masses, I think britpart is ok. It's a lot cheaper and it does the job.

Obviously I've been lucky and/or I'm an idiot.

But I'm quite happy with britpart, so I feel I must voice the alternative opinion.

Also I'm led to believe britpart make a lot of stuff for land rover now anyway - I was told it's land rover bagged and sold as genuine, I assume LR don't make some of the old stuff anymore.

Cheers :)

bearmach is slightly more expensive than ****part but much better quality
the only britpart item i have bought which was any good was my front bumper, only because you would have to be a monkey not to weld two bits of tube together

A while ago I went to my local LR dealer for some bits.

Caught sight of some discs on the shelves in their stock room

BRITPART!!!!!!!

I kid you not!

I have used alot of Britpart stuff and on the whole it has been quite good!

Avoid anything made of rubber from them though... (My Engine Mounts have been on 2 months WITHOUT the engine being started and are cracked badly). General rule of thumb for me.. If it is arsehole to replace OEM, Anything else Birtpart or Bearmach.

Britpart aftermarket accessores are extremely good though (Bumpers, Seat Covers ect)

Todays TOP TIP :D

My vote is for Famous Four - ordered rear bearing (OE) Tuesday arrived Weds = result

as for Britpart, I've had good parts and bad parts, BUT I recently replaced my swivel and was supplied with 2 britpart bearings, these wouldn't even fit the swivel pin! Luckily I also had 2 OE bearings about me so no worries there.
So I'll second discool's comment about Mseries's top tip.

You do know that the top and bottom swivel pins are different sizes don't you?

Bearmach os allmakes 4x4 everytime for me as it is oem quality stuff and they stand by there warranty - Britpart on the main is made in China or Taiwan (they have a large court case looming about this)

You do realise that Allmakes, Bearmach and Britpart are merely wholesalers? They don't actually make anything themselves.

of course i realise that, there (Bearmach / All Makes 4x4) items are scourced from the oem suppliers whereas Britpart have them copied cheeply

Well if that it so, how come when I ordered a Britpart lift pump from Paddocks, it was a Britpart box but a Delphi pump, or the time I ordered a Britpart vacuum pump and it was a Wabco?

Don't think it is quite as straightfoward as you suggest. My guess would be that all these wholesalers have buying teams who are seeking the best value on a daily basis and their suppliers will vary dependant on market conditions. As, incidently, do Land Rover.
