Not really... But heres the idea anyway, some patience will see me through, but this guys done a simple job of it, just a cut, measure, stick, fill, sand, paint, done. I hope :p Then wire it!
I cant find a working link to something i found, but a google of "discovery 2 double din imgur" will bring it up, for you chaps that are probably thinking what a stupid idea ;)

im not feeling the support for my trek into the not very well known! :D
The reason you're not feeling the support is that many have looked at the trek and bottled it. So it is a well known trek.
And that ain't gonna work, the steering wheel is on the wrong side and it's gonna take a bit more work than installing a double din radio to sort that out! :D
TBH, I have seen that report on the net, and it seems like an awful lot of work, even though the finished article does look good.

What spec is yours? My old mans had 2 d3's in the past and the 2nd had the nav screen, lovely sound system in the D3!
It looks easy for you, you only have to get an adapter fascia off ebay IIRC?:)

i bought the D3 7 x seater base model , bought it as a project , so didn't want the immense extra electronics of the higher hse models

see some fit a standard sat nav , i.e. garmin, tom tom in where the sat nav normally is

but as mine is the base model its easy to replace it with a double din, as it's not tied in with gps, sat nav , on board
computers

I thought you were going for a single din, with gold out screen.......

Fascia finally showed up, and will be the one i make (or try) then will be a swap for the one sitting in there at the moment, hopefully will get out there tonight and start planning, had a rough week been sick as a dog so not even thought about it!

What HU and speaker system is in there already??
IMG_20161203_132408.jpg

Heres the current one, old, doesnt work properly, naff piece of kit, as far as i know the speakers are bog standard not HK, theyre fine though, got a low profile sub mounted out of the way in the back to go with it which i will wire in soon, its not too much to make it look the 19 year old's truck it is :p no cupholders there neither

Heres me sub mounted onto the back of the 3rd row seat, its the only place where its truly out of the way in all boot uses, not large, and still squeezes between the door when the seats are stood up :)

This photo makes it look bigger than it is

Starting planning, and removed all buttons to the bare, the original din gap height is 85mm and cupholder space is 40mm, at 125mm together that should give me a nice 10mm +/- leeway up or down over the 115mm height double din cage to play with and mess up, as i plan to use the 2 slots at the bottom of the fascia to mount the heating surround.

Progress going very well, have done the main cutting of the heater surround, have kept as much of it in tact without hacking it to death, even without the steadiest hand, i might make a surgeon one day if i can use me dremel

Heres the heater surround

Test fitted the cage and trim piece, looked like it grew there!
IMG_20161203_212518.jpg

Just about to clean up the rough plastic

More trimmery done to the heater surround, made the tabs to slot into the fascia for securing, and tested the fit again with the cage, again, probably grew there :D

Will slot in like this and shorten the tabs

All fitting nicely, getting a rough look of it coming together

Done for tonight, cutting is done and heater surround is finished, so just need to fit some donor slices of plastic to slot into the new gap between the top corners and sides of the heater surround and the vent wall to support and secure in place, while givin me somethin to cake filler/fibreglass onto. Then its just sand, paint, fit, done! Saturday night well spent :)
