Dear Fellow members,

it is a while that I am trying to figure out the reason of the strange behaviour of my RR TDV8.
When I am on a mild slope at around 80mph and try to give more gas the only effect is a sudden increase of rpm like I shift a gear down but nor an increase in the speed, like the engine is limited at 80mph.
It does not happen always but when it does I have to slow down to below 70mph and 2.0rpm and then it seems that you can approach the same hill with more power.
I checked the gearbox and changed its oil but it looks ok.
I then asked to electronically check the engine and the answer was the same:"Everything is ok".

Probably the best way to describe its behaviour is like a car that is with the speed limit in action, even though it is not.

Please help me as I am getting crazy.

Ciao,
Luca

The sudden increase in revs is the torque convertor unlocking which is quite normal if the load increases, if you are already doing 80 maybe you are expecting too much, perhaps you should have bought a Ferrari, they are just as unreliable as a Range rover:eek:

So could be torque converter faulty ?

My old girl will still do 100 quite happily
Even when going up an incline :p

I don't think the torque convertor is faulty, it appears to do what it is supposed to do from the description, unless the motor is hitting the rev limiter when it unlocks. Worth checking the oil level in the box.
Otherwise perhaps the engine is just down on power.

Indeed

Could be some sort of safety feature limiting the engine when on an incline or something

Not sure with these fancy new becm on the tdv8 lol

100kph while on the public roads though, right? You'd never go 100mph on public roads in the UK because that would be illegal and dangerous. It is always worth clarifying as the BiB tend to lurk forums a lot in an attempt to find people admitting to traffic crimes. To help keep us safe.

I mean, if they have the time to go to such lengths it must mean all crime in the UK has been solved and all stolen items will be returned to us all shortly.

Of course, silly me 100kph, 100mph would be very silly.

100mph is for around top gears test track lol

Although I find it hard to see how they can possibly prosecute someone on a forum just buy what someone has said ?

Don't they need proof ?

So you can say anything and they will believe you?
Lmao !

i do 1000mph whilst on the phone and snorting coke off of hookers that i punch whilst going the wrong way down a one way street drunk instead of paying tax and crossing the road after looking both ways. I also play loud music after the hours of 11pm.:high5:

You would think so, but a chap a few years ago got into a shunt a motorbikealist then came round the corner hit his crashed car and did some damage to his person. Because his car had a sticker on it that advertised a club website the rozzers went to it, found the guys account and used his bragging as proof that he drives like a cock and that must be why he crashed. There was no evidence to suggest he caused the crash by driving like a cock. But it still got him a year for dangerous driving, all because of Internet willy waving.

So it helps to be careful what you say online because the cops have nothing better to do than browse the net on the tax payers coin.

The other hotbed for not enough time in the day is BarryBoys, insurers will browse it looking for cars that haven't declared mods to make policies void.

It is so nice appreciating your English sense of humor.........:p

I am Italian indeed and I am still proud of Ferrari, pasta, pizza and of course Bunga Bunga:)

Jokes on the side,
I really appreciate your help and considering this one is my second RR I know for sure that asking more than 80mph on that kind of slope is like asking to Berlusconi to do not touch girls...
I almost due for oil engine check, so dear fellow masters of the Range what do you think I should ask to be checked more carefully?

Thanks,
L
