after having fun at slindon my g/box/transfer box has broke

After having much fun at slindon in my diesel 90 on the way home i got loads if nasty banging noise from the gearbox or transfer box (befere you say i did take it out of 4x4 drive ) think its more the transfer box as the high and low gear leaver is stiff does anyone know where i can get one and what transfer box would fit are they interchangeable? has anyone got one lying around ? cheers reg

lt230 disco box but will need two holes tapped for handbrake

Find out what he problem is first, before sourcing T/Box.

The stiff selector maybe just mud etc in the mechanism. Remove the centre seat and panel underneath and you can see the hi/lo selector from there. Clean it with a wire brush and a quick spray of WD40 or spray grease and see if that makes a difference.

To test for 'banging' noise. Chock the wheels, put the transfer box in neutral and try each gear in the main box with the engine running. This should tell you if it is main box or not.

Also get underneath (wheels chocked, hand brake off) and give the prop shafts a good shake to check the UJs.

the diff bearings inside th transfer bos have shot themselves got the box out just need to fine a replacement will the gearing be much different with a disco transfer box?

Yes Disco hi range is higher. 1.2:1 in Disco versus 1.4:1 in Defender.
