Ah right I'm near Knutsford.

So interesting first impressions, a myriad of advice about engines this evening.

Not too far away then.

Banter and **** taking first and foremost on 'ere.

If ya ignore scrotia you'll get good advice, plenty of threads about the different engines and issues that people have come across.

This guy is on a different planet....let me guess your.......German.
Your humour is a bit weird ya fukkin hobbo.
If you fancy coming round to my garage for a test drive Storm99, I'd be glad to kick the **** out of you in front all your gayboys,

So you can't read then? I am afraid i havent got any gayboys (nice adult terminology by the way)...next you'll be calling me a bummer..ffs

Grow up...oh, are you going to threaten to leave for a 3rd time?

Hi, totally new here so er hello!

Just finished university now and after a new car, been through the smaller ones and after driving a few I quite fancy a Discovery. Not after one of the new ones, probably a D1 or D2. I would want it for commuting to work in the week, few trips around the country fishing, towing a boat and shooting and also maybe some off roading. Housemate at uni had a kitted Defender, says I'm mad to be looking for a Discovery but they seem the best value for money. I've been taught a few things what to watch out for in terms of rust, leaky sunroofs and someone told me to stay away from the 200 Tdi engines?

Budget is around £2000-3000, kind of would like an automatic as I'm lazy. Am I mad like my friend says or is this going to be something that I will love and cherish?

YOU BASTARD...look at the trouble you've started.

only kiddin mate...Like i said, do your homework, and if you do decide to go for a Landy ( ANY LANDY ) enjoy it.

I recently had similar money (closer to 2k than 3),looking for a disco. i could not find a TD5 under 3k worth buying, i ended up getting a '96 300tdi auto, jap import.i would try to find one of these if you can, they tend to be in a better overall condition than a uk one, and dont have a factory fit alarm system, which is a very good thing !.

I recommend this dealership..the owners a ****-wit but you are allowed to thrash the bollix off all the stock then return it, laugh in his face and say you wanted a 200tdi..

Scotia Motor Traders

If this is Scrotias company and he has forgotten more than we know then why the **** does he have a part ex section advertising 2x300tdis with a pic of a 200tdi above it?

Hi what is the issue with the factory fit alarm?

They can go wrong (the immobiliser part) and cause problems starting and cutting out (see 300tdi's are crap:D)
You can buy a bypass kit. Try searching for 'alarm spider' should give you some info.

Bumping this, been having a look around this past weekend with my granddad and seen a few V8i LPG Discos.

Am I mad looking at these, the cars seem in good nick and at around £2000-2500 they seem good value for the mileage?
