I have been trawling the forum and heard everyone raving about the roverron box.

I had my 2001 td4 remapped about a year ago and what's diff it made! However as usual after a year I have started to dream about more power.

Will fitting a ronbox on top of the remap give me any added benifits, or do I have to look at a stage 2 remap?

Thanks in advance for any help.

i'd suggest approaching rover ron with that idea

i think he's done both to some vehicles .. not necessarily freelander td4's ..
( not sure .. i just vaguely remember reading about it )

don't think it's a case of Any remap plus a ronbox ..
the two would have to work together ..

get it wrong .. you might melt the turbocharger .. for starters ..

and you might need to upgrade the intercooler ..
install different injectors ..
upgrade the cooling system as well .. maybe .. ( speculating )

i.e. i don't think it's as simple as adding a ron box to any remap ..

Wouldn't it be easier to get the remap undone and just fit the Rover Ron Box as the Synergy should give you all you're likely to need without the risk, as hd3 suggests, of blowing the turbo.

I have emailed him and this was his response, sounds like it should be fun to try it.

Our td4 produced 171bhp & 275lbs ft torque on the dyno with a remap and RonBox2a on maximum so there is definitely more to be gained by fitting one. The performance was astounding as you would expect.

I would however, recommend using it on the lower settings, if only to give the clutch and transmission an easier time, but you should find that even so, the results, especially at low and medium rpm will be most worthwhile.

If you are still on the original maf sensor, I would recommend fitting the Pierburgh one at the same time and there is a Special offer of a Ronbox2a + maf available.

Special offers on RonBox 2a and Digimafams or give Darren a call on 01670 818914 or 0845 5393969

Provided you don't go mad, or intend to use the extra torque to pull a heavy load as if it wasn't attached, then you should not have any real need to fit a bigger intercooler. The injectors are okay if in good condition. With this sort of performance, under normal driving you simply can't use the enhanced performance other than in short bursts, so the reliability should not be affected - poor servicing is far more likely to lead to problems.

Many thanks for the enquiry.

Regards
Ron
