Hi,

My Discovery 2 (2001 year, 80,000 miles) has an amber ACE warning light.

Dealership have advised that the entire system requires to be replaced at a cost of £4,500!
Front and rear pipes, and ACE valve block plus fluids

This seems a ridiculous price.

Has anyone experienced this before?

Many thanks

Gavin

depends whats putting the light on ,but it costs about £300 to remove it ,or some parts can be bought from landy breakers ,valve blocks about £50 second hand

:mad:a bunch of schmucks those guys... if just the amber light is on and no fluid loss it will be cheaper to fix than convert, the most common is the pressure transducer around £55 (excl. VAT), a solenoid about the same price or in the worst case the pump which you can get used with warranty e.g 1999 - 2004 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 2 ACE PUMP - ERR4868 WITH WARRANTY | eBay, also it could be simple as a fuse or relay but you need to get the fault code read(for this particular issue dont use nanocom)

also a fluid and filter change can help...use the dedicated fluid not ATF

There is a slight oil drip at the drivers side front wheel

The report from the visual inspection says front and rear ACE pipes burst and valve block requires replacement

They havent actually given me the diagnostics report -should I expect some form of computer print out from them?

find some decent mechanics first, forget about dealers cos they'll rip you off for nothing...if it was like they say you would have lost all the fluid and got a red ACE light

My ACE is leaking so toying with the idea to scrap ACE altogether. ACE removal kit online for 240£ exVAT which isnt half bad. Google ´ace removal kit´...i dont know if admins will allow a direct link on here?
