Freelander 1 ABS sensors - which one to buy?

Sadly no.

Cheapest 400Nm torque wrench I can find on the bay of fleas is about £50 delivered. And that is a one-setting wonder.

Perhaps I should ask a local garage to set it for me? For the time being, I've spun up with windy gun.

Brief test drive reveals the near silence of off side front suspension (no more knock: hurrah!)

And: three amigos be gone! :D

My eBay purchase seems to work. Not only has the three amigos been extinguished, but the annoying inappropriate triggering of the traction control has also gone.

All round good result I think :D
 
Thanks chaps - that sounds "close enough for ministry works"! :)

Plus I already have a 1 metre bar with 3/4" drive. Just a shame all my 32mm sockets have 1/2" drives lol

Buying a 3/4" 32mm socket ought not set the bank back by much, so I'll get into eBay now ;)

Iirc, I paid about £6 for mine, Do you not have a reducer from 3/4 to 1/2? I asked if you had a long breaker and you said no..............:rolleyes::rolleyes:..LOL

Use a long extension between the breaker and the socket and put an axle stand under it in line with the ctr of the nut.

Thanks, I am checking prices and availability now: 6-point hex, 32mm 3/4" square drive socket £7.49 delivered. That'll do :)
 
Don't forget that the nut is best tightened, with the wheel on the ground. Not all 3/4 drive sockets fit inside the wheel centre bore to allow tightening with the wheel on the ground.
 
I think I have a contingency plan if that comes to pass Nodge, but that is very useful heads up, thanks :)

NSF lower wishbone
NSF TRE
Hunt the noisy bearing (front VCU support bearing strongly suspected)
IRD oil change (been on the to-do list for ages!!)
Repair rust hole in the rear door

Then it's just a couple of minor items! :)

Check for a bent/loose guard rubbing when looking for the bearing. SWMBO had been complaining for weeks about a rubbing noise and I put it down the the bearing. While it might be on the way out the noise she was hearing was the guard completely broken off and lying against the disk. :oops:
 
Now replaced NSF lower wishbone. Much easier than the other side due to practice, now all the right tools and the ball joint nut undoing much easier. Had to hold the taper to get the last few flats released, but now replaced with a fresh Delphi wishbone and new rear alloy bush assembly :)

But I just re-read my post above and forgot to look at the TRE! D'oh!!!

Also torqued the OSF hub nut using Neil's technique, and now staked.

Happy! :D

Sensor problem??? I will need to get back on T4 to figure this out...
