I thought about selling my 2000 1.8 5 door which ive only had for about a month and is really nice condition and drive but i really want a 3 door to remove top which is why i sold my disco for bit of fun and better mpg.I thought sod it i will keep mine but just cant help looking at 3 doors for sale.If i do change i would like to get 2001 model and just wondered if there are any benefits for changing to a 2001-2002 model which will be different to mine.A td4 is out of my price range so will have to be another petrol,is there any bad points about the 3 door???

In 2001 they changed the front indicator lenses to clear.

In 2002 they changed the side and rear indicator lenses to clear.

It is pretty cutting edge stuff.

You may find that all of a sudden, members of the same sex will become attracted to you when you drive along with your top off. I'm not sure if you consider this a benefit or not. For me, no...

In all seriousness, you have a car with a **** engine. It's best described as a ticking time bomb. If I were you, I'd get rid and get a diesel if it works out cost effective. That said, I'm perhaps more paranoid than most, some may say I am being a bit OTT.

I got my TD4 station wagon only 3 weeks ago. So far, it has only spent 2 nights parked up outside a local garage, and only once have I had to call out the AA. Despite that, I've still managed to have a bit of fun driving through some lanes! I guess we have established a love, hate relationship already!

Just cos you fancy us 3dr drivers, you shouldn't judge others by your own standards.

If the 1.8 is so sh!t howcome the Td4 has more votes in the faults poll, than the two petrol engines combined?

Cheaper to buy, no turbos to replace when they die, more tunable, doesn't sound like a transit van, 200kg lighter, 117bhp compared to 110bhp, loads of cheap spares available, loads of advice available due to being an enthusiasts engine.

Not to mention if he goes for the coil pack engine then MEMS 3 can be re-programmed, unlike the earlier dizzy cap versions,
