Hi again,

Ok, give it to me straight - What have I REALLY let miself in for?

Is it possible to get a 1980 LWB Station Wagon with Diesel 2.25 in it up to such a standard that I can drive to the Lakedistrict and back without worrying? Are all my weekends now hijacked by my ever growing list of things to do?

That said, after years of company cars and 'getting a man in' I've really enjoyed mi first two jobs on mi first landy. 1. Starter motor swap and 2. Just cleaned up mi air filter (oil bath type). I've even bought a small tub of swarfega !!

So anyway, back to mi hissing. When bought no hissing. Left standing for two weeks while I sourced a starter motor and now I've got a hissing at the accelerator linkage where it joins the air intake manifold. Is this a, or going to cause a, problem?

OR, should I sell it and buy a disco???

Cheers,

Scared DIYer but putting on a brave face for the wife's sake.:D

LOVL at Slob's reply ....

Will check to see if sucking or blowing (I guess (hope) it's sucking).

Thanks for the encouragement, I'll stick with it. Taken loads a bits out of the interior today ready for new list fo things to repair/replace etc. starting with the passenger front door as it let just about every rain drop in a few days ago when we had a storm.
Then it's mi leaf springs, then mi oils levels, then mi timing then, then then......

i had one of them once. terrible cooling problems, it used to blow head gaskets for fun.

You don't need to wear one if you're having your gasket blown, you only need one when you're doing the "traditional"
(Never heard it called a "gasket" before...)
