Hi
not used my new(to me) v8 this week. just went outside to turn her over and the key fob appears not to be working. luckily down the drive so not locked. when open the drivers door the immobiliser light comes on and stays on, however it will start, but the light stays on and the flashing key/car on the dash. when sitting in the motor and press the driver side button down it does lock all the doors. Having read handbook im presuming battery is dead in the fob. my question is
Is it just a case of fitting a new battery or has it all got to be synced? im hoping so because i dont have the emergency key access code. any idea where i can get it from?. in addition to this is it correct that the Disco still starts even thou the fob not locking/unlocking.( not that im complaining).
Need to start gaining confidence, just swapped from a jap. just hope ive donr the right thing:confused:. your help greatly appreciated.

Wayne

As you have an owner's handbook the fob battery replacement is detailed in there. (fit the battery and press the lock button 4 times)

The EKA code can be provided by a LR main dealer via your VIN and you proof of ownership.

Without a functioning fob the engine will not start therefor with a functioning fob you should be able to remotely lock/unlock your disco.

Thanks for the speedy reply discool. so should be ale to get EKA easily enough then.
the baffling part from what you have said is that my Disco still starts, despite the fob not functioning. havin said that the red immobiliser light is permanentl on, and the red car with key symbol is flashing, which the manual says "can only be mobilised by pressing the "unlock" button on the remote". which obviously is what i cannot do.
all very weird.

not long had the motor to be honest. a month or so. was working fine, a tad difficult to get fob to work, but nevertheless it did work. and the indicator lights flashed when locking.
im not liking this. not the start i wanted.:(

You should just be able to change the battery with no messing about. I changed both of mine no problem and they just worked as they should with new batteries.

Thanks Finallysnapped, hope you are right. daft question, where do you buy the batteries from? dya have to get em from dealers or Motor factors type shops or where?

Hey it Worked:). just new battery and works fine, was beginning to think was gonna get immobiliser problems.
am pleased. thanks chaps.
