you may also need to fit a relay in the fuse box mine needed the green relay fitting it was the last open way to take one.

Can you remember where? I tried putting a relay in the top (nearest driver) edge of the fusebox but it made no difference.

There are no relays in the engine bay fuse box for headlamps or fog lamps. All are controlled and switched by BECM.

That's what I figured. Drat. Guess it has to be the connector then. I've got some spares so I could snip off the old and solder some new. Failing that the FET in the BECM is stuffed.

Or more likely not installed on a Low-Line board. Each front fog light is driven by it's own FET and as I've mentioned in your other post (just for continuity!) and not on the earlier Low Line BECM power boards.

There is a front fog fitting kit available from Land rover. Look at RAVE Accessories for instructions on fitting STC8540. It is explained there. There are different wiring options for hiline and lowline BECM. Lowline does involve fitting a relay in engine fuse box. It is a lot of money though but you may gather some info from the fitting instructions. Best of luck. ;);)

Some one on here moved there cooler to the middle so they could fit fogs ,Also think 2000 on had fans fitted to gearbox cooler .Lot of work if its not foggy.

1999 MY has a fan on the cooler. It is not possible to fit fogs unless cooler is moved. Pre 1999 fogs can be fitted to autos BUT ventilation MUST be provided through bumper cover. If you do a lot of towing even that may not be enough. My auto has front fogs but bumper is vented.

" ....bumper is vented..."

How to vent the bumper other than the original middle vents.
Also, there is rectangular slot in the bumper right next to each fog. Are these for vents?

Thanks, Wammers. I'll have a think.

Mine's a manual so ventilation not an issue. Gearbox is cooled through the bottom of the water radiator. Think only the diesel autos have an issue.

Wammers ,could you put a manual rad with the built in cooler on an auto ,or add it in line with some extra pipe work.to help the cooling if fogs were fitted ...be gentle with me

Suppose you could but a complete ball ache to extend the oil lines. You can't fit them at all to 1999 and on without moving the cooler. You can on pre 1999 providing you vent the bumper cover Easy enough to do if you are handy. But if you do a lot of towing maybe not a good idea.

Guessing the autobox fluid gets hotter than the manual?

Don't know what the gearbox auto or manual running temp is so can't answer that. The manual must get to engine temp at least as it is cooled by the same rad as the engine. But it would be a lot of work to fit a bloody fog lamp. :D:D
