Hello

Recently picked up a 1990 90 with the 2.5td 19J engine. It has 113k miles on it. Overall condition is good. The very good chassis, interior and bulkhead is off set by the below average exterior. An array of rust spots and a bit of bubbling.


My first job was clearing it up and giving her a good wash. I removed all the awful stickers and a silly ariel to give it a clean original look.

My short term goals are:
Clean up all rust with wire brushes, rust stabilisers and hammerite spray. Replayed front seats. Soundproof. Black out the wheels.

Long term goals:
Engine swap (200tdi?), new clutch, respray
 
Tested out hammerite rust treating paint spray last night. Some before and after below. I'll be doing the whole car in it over the next few dry days, this will resolve the awful colour difference. This will keep me in good shape until a full respray in spring. Over spray on black bits as these will be getting done shortly so I was lazy with masking off. Next job is spline counting on the steering wheel before purchasing a smaller one.
