anybody got any plans for a roll cage for a 90? save a lot of time messing about, if somebody has plans the will share

Do you want it to be competition compliant?? If so which regs MSA or Ultra 4?

My personal opinion my 2p worth is: if your going to have a roll age it may aswell be to a spec which means it can be certified as a legal cage for comps. I would look at the msa blue book they list designs that are legal for comps.

its more just for posing if im honest  & to make the truck stand out! as im going to be using with my breakdown & recovery business so I want it to stand out more than the rest

why oh dear? im not going to make it out of plastic pipe! but its not going to be MSA approved either. its going to be used in conjunction with advertising my business but I don't want to spend £1k on buying one when cost for me to build will be peanuts in comparison!

I hate paying silly money for things that we are more than capable of doing ourselves

if its not MSA compliant - is your design sufficient for road use......

have seen the after effects of badly fitted (tagged and commercial) cages in mini bus accident in west africa im a little sceptical of many cages worth now ... for example the 110 on the classifieds just now - the cage on that is scary.

wonder what your insurance would have to say if you were in an accident and a home brew cage deformed/prevented emergency services access /egress for your passengers your recovering

i can understand them on comp trucks but putting a show cage on road trucks that are clearly show trucks just looks **** + a waste of fuel.

im assuming that's a now to any plans then lol

building a good strong & safe cage isn't difficult - you just need the correct materials, make sure your triangulate it correctly & can weld other than that its just abit of fiddle back and forwards to the pipe bender.

probably 90% of defender that have mods on them are just for show!! how many people have fitted lift kits and don't need them or fancy wheels and tyres that they don't need or the biggest waste of time fitted to nearly every defender the snorkel!!!! most never go to the extremes were one is needed not only that most aren't even fitted correctly!!!

Hard top or pickup ? Pickup is easy to make both good looking and safe. Hard top is abit harder to do both as youve got to but in a cross brace through the roof.

Personally its not much work to make one MSA compliant you might aswell do it while youre going to the trouble of building your own.

I got dave at tornado to do my bends and notches and I did all the mounts and welding. Quite abit chepaer than a fully fabbed cage and didn't have to go through the lengthy process of trial and error and I know its safe and compliant.

Having a roll cage just for show is abit silly. Extra weight, extra drag, if nit done right it could make things worse.

A well built cage makes a vehicle look good. A badly built one .... well they look **** ....

Lift kit, big wheels and roll cage could all be considered contributing factors in almostvany accident if the plod wish to do so.

A cage for show to me its silly but tornado do make a front hoop light bar for show
