So last week, I finally got around to dragging the old 90 that my friend has let me have, out of a field.

After 6 years of being stood, to my amazement it started up (with aid of a boost pack and fresh diesel).

So back home and here is the assessment:-

1. Rear 1/4 chassis - rotten
2. Bulk head - both top corners rotten, passenger door pillar rotten
3. Both doors - rotten
4. Brakes - non existent
5. Exhaust - missing
6. Front chassis legs - dodgy
7. Electrics - very dodgy
8. Body cappings rotten
9. Interior covered in farm s@$te

Good bits
1. Rear door is OK
2. Roof OK
3. Bonnet OK

The log book states it is a LR 90C Reg. It looks like it started life as a yellow (coast guard??) van. At some point it has been given rear windows and a green paint job, with white roof. Although now there is so much moss growing on it, the whole thing is green!

So, here's the question, do I:-

1. Rebuild it (it would be the biggest mechanical job I had attempted!)
2. Scrap it
3. Break it for spares
4. Does anyone out there want to buy it????

All suggestions gratefully received!

Cheers
Chris

1... yes... take ya time its been stood 6 years another 6 wont harm :)
2... no
3....no
4... how much

:D

Here are a few pics of the 90. It is in a bit of a state as you can see.

I must admit, I am a bit nervous about starting a restoration. I will definitely need some help with the welding - and I think that there might be a lot!!

Is it worth getting a new chassis and starting afresh?

definately start with new galv chassis , set it up as a rolling unit then strip, repair and replace as you go, will set you up with a good motor for a long time that way and you will know it inside out which will help you maintain it in the future

Thanks all. I wil be asking santa for a new socket set, saying no to the Christmas Day film and starting stripping down the 90.

It's probably a long way off, but any suggestions as to where to get the best (cheapest!!) galv chassis and bulk head?

build yer own out of 5mm ;) then paint and wax the **** out of that bastid!

I's got a few small ideas on modding my chassis slightly once running to a) take the R380 and b) make it tougher in a crash

Have ya seen the price list on there. £800 for a pair of doors  £300 for wings £200 for a grill  fooking eeeeejit..
Yeah they are probably brand new.
Freshly aquired from a dealers forecourt,
Looks like a complete tdci to me that has been broken down, there is no mention of a log book.
I quite fancied it myself, but i dont buy dodgy stuff
