Having owned A Land Rover product for many years (all Range Rovers until this Ninety) never have I had such a horrible, messy, smelly, frustrating and annoying job as to swap out the old tank for a new one.

Forget RAVE and other sources that says undo the bolts and bracket then rotate and slide out.....

After fecking about with a tank that obviously won't come out that way, there is just not enough room......

So if you are doing this job, save yourself the bother and unbolt the door sill as it gives a load more wiggle room.

Never want to do it again, 27 year old bolts rusted in place that all needed a good dose of swearing to remove be it with a spanner or a nut splitter!

Sounds like you've had it easy!

Nut splitter! When I was a lad we had to remove 27 yr old rusted bolts with our teeth. :D

i refitted it at this stage to save the skinned knuckles :D

I started changing my tank...then paid someone to finish the job!

It is rusting already, but fortunately I have a rear tank too, so when it rots through again, I will just stop using it!

Not too bad once you've done it a few times, we had Martyns in and out in an afternoon a while back.

Floor out, get all new fasteners first, whang a big sharp cold chisel through the chassis to bracket bolts with a club hammer, cut off the rear bolts with a grinder.
Remove tank, replace, reassemble, job done. :)

I always get a coat of paint on the tank first, the paint on them is usually crap.
