Hi all ,back again after long absence .Been rebuilding n/s body on RRC (detail above) ,did o/s last year .
However ,this time the front inner wing did not want to leave its home of nearly 30 years and I had a ...ahem....moment ,as it were....and tore it off by brute force with several wires and such still connected .

Now ,my problem (yes I know I have many more serious personal ones) is that one of the vacuum hoses snapped/tore and now I cannot find its source leading to compromised vacuum system affecting tuning and braking .

The soft rubber hose in question is the small diameter one from the the top of engine area to the globe/sphere reservoir that lives in the n/s ,spare battery area .The other ,slightly narrower hose runs through the bulkhead to the heater controls .

Where does this hose originate ?Where is its connection to the vacuum circuit round the plenum and heads ?I cannot find a spigot or flapping torn end of hose.....help ?

Yes ,Im an idiot ,I know that .I am constantly reminded by her indoors among many ,oh so many others .I have all the workshop books etc as pdf but still havnt located the source .Even I think Im stupid .

I have so much to do on the back wheelarch ,sides ,floor sides ,C pillar ,seatbelt anchorage box ,spare wheel dish ,etc etc...not to mention the holes in the chassis top that I just found .

So any help gladly accepted and appreciated...Im sorted for contempt and insults .

I too have an '87 but because it's not a daily & not parked at home it will be Monday before I use it next. If you've not had a reply by then I'll be happy to look for you & post a reply.

If its got AC then it sounds like it is the vacuum circuit for the heater box vent controls (yes they are vac operated). The bigger hose should be attached to the plenum, well more correctly there is (should be) a spigot on the base of the ram housing. The smaller one that runs back along the inner wing goes through the bulkhead and connects to the heater box. HTH

non a/c...I can wait as its being welded at mo just for a change....and yes ,I WILL get stuck...I did say that Im an idiot didnt I ?

Thanks guys !

On top of the plenum you will have a small fitting for the dizzy vac and a similar one for the heater flap air res.
Both are fairly close to the air inlet.

Same without A/C, operates the fresh air flap on the heater. Used to be just a simple lever/rod arrangement until it was 'improved'

Thanks for all the replies and help guys .Been sidelined by family probs til now .Still cannot find the spigot even though I looked in the places suggested so either ,
a) I am very stupid (actually this is a given)
b) the RRC is very stupid and has all its bits mixed up by previous owners (much evidence of this) ,or
c) both of the above

anyway ,all the body welding is finally finished (for now) and I went to move the vehicle yesterday....and....no brakes ! This is a sickener as I have had the system apart and bled it 4 times since august .Cant find any obvious leaks so it looks like master cylinder seals .

I mention this as it did cross my mind that a compromised vacuum system could affect the servo....but the pedal feels more like fluid passing the seals in the master cyl .Did I mention I HATE working on brakes ?

St.V....cant unlock the doc...thanks for trying
Pete ,no second spigot anywhere near dizzy vac tube...
...in fact cannot find a spigot anywhere on plenum ,ram housing ,vacuum circuit hoses ,MAF (lucas 2AM) or any sodding where...this is driving me nuts...I got a buggered brake master cyl so vacuum problems I do not need....excuse me while I go out to garden and shout...(exits room).....muffled scream

BUGGERRRRRRRRR !!!!!F*CK-A-DOODLE-DO !!! DOUBLE SODDING BUGGER !!!

....re enters room...sorry ,I am a little tense

Any ideas where to find this hose spigot ? Its in none of places suggested but there is an audible vacuum leak on n/s of head..
...plus the vacuum leak is not helping my non working brake problem .Im lost here folks ,had a jaguar apprenticed 30 year experienced engineer and a 60 year time served mechanic on this to no avail

Thanks Oakey !No cruise, its the vacuum switch for heater control flaps...I know where it goes ,just not where it comes from .
REME pulling us out the sh1t again ,when the Maroon Machine gets bogged down (as usual)

Again thanks ,but I need to find the vacuum source on the engine end ,apparently on the ram or plenum...but Im buggered if I can find it .Leaves me with a vacuum leak that makes my idle high....and reduces brake vacuum too !
