5 to 7 seater

Depends on what year/model, but generally yes.

Disco 2's are easier in some respects as spares are still available.

Disco 1's are cheaper but the seats are sideways-facing.

Ours was built as a 5-seater and converted to 7. Have just this morning fitted the fold-down head restraints which were missing, everything else is there, even the trim matches ;)

can I convert my 5 seater disco into a 7 seater?

I don't know Dave that will depend on your skills :D

Both D1 and D2 can be fitted with the two additional seats and belts, all the holes etc are there somewhere, hidden behind the panels etc. I think there's some work to do with both vehicles and the job will be more involved with the D2 in the fitting head restrants and seat belts.
Maybe someone who has done the job will post more info for you.:)

D2 head restraints took under an hour this morning, all the holes etc are there in the body, but you do need the different top trim piece.

I posted about this today on Landrovernet.com which you wouldn't have seen, Dave.

In this months LRO there's a question about retro fitting additional seats and in the reply quote "If it has coil rear suspension, the kit can't be fitted legally because Land Rover only carrried out the correct construction and use testing on air-suspension models".

So as UP above tell your insurance company. Do they have such a thing in Italy :D

We had our insurance cover changed from 5 to 7 seats with no problems and no insurance loading.

See the attached, it lists Disco2 7-seaters with coil springs.

There is no equivalent page in the Disco1 RAVE CD, but the two sideways seats are listed in the accessory fitting section, and no indication that any suspension modifications are needed.
