Disco 1 (300tdi) Wipers not parking

I seem to be plauged by electrical problems at the moment now the Intermediate wipe stops at full up sweep but normal and fast work ok but stops wipers moving when turned off and not returning to park position.this has happened suddenly without any symptoms fix or fubar.

As this is a Disco 1 you can get a new wiper park switch, which I feel is likely to be your problem.
This is attached to the wiper drive box and is connected to a plug with two wires in it.
Alternatively, you could try removing it and seeing if it is simply the plunger sticking.

Cheers will pull it apart and see what's wrong but from what I've read parking switch (520160 )can be
replaced on defender's but not on Discoverys ? .

You will have to check thoroughly but I think you can replace them on Disco 1s but not on Disco 2s.
Others will jump on hopefully, but have a good search on tinternet!

As always the question has be asked before in the Forums, so search and you shall find

Try taking the wiper arm off and let the motor go through its full cycle. Then refit the arm and see what happens.

Interesting to see what the outcome will be with that, but why not just lift the arm with the blade attached of the screen, much the same and without the need for a spanner or mucking about fitting the arms back on the correct spline

Ok tried the with the wipers folded up off the screen on intermediate went to full up and stopped turned off wipe and on again wipers moved halfway down the screen and stopped again put wipers back on glass now it only moves about halfway across the screen up or down on intermediate with each cycle of the switch.

The symptom of a failed park switch it seems.

Is there any chance of pulling it apart to fix or will I destroy it trying

If you handy then yes, I never had to go there with a Land Rover but the cover is held with 2 or 3 screws/nuts but as there’s no replacement parts available and the course is a worn part, usually the electrical switch contacts, I’d be inclined to source a s/h replacement.
I suspect it’s just minutes to replace once u have got access and removed the bits and bobs.. and from the manual it looks on a nice day a 30min job with a tea break...
Then u can dissect the old wiper motor at your leisure, if so inclined

have ordered a s/h motor will pull the old one apart just for the hell of it (nothing ventured nothing gained) as I'm a make and mend type will post back if it's possible or not.
