Fellows,
Lat night my wife spotted a big pool of oil under the disco when she got home from town. Popped the bonnet to find the serpentine belt nearly shredded and the PAS pump pulley sitting 10mm proud. Anyway I popped the serpentine belt off and tried to spin the pump - Seized solid. To make matters worse, took the top off the power steering oil reservoir and found that the whole steering system is now contaminated with small metallic particles. I propose to fit a new PAS pump, flush clean the pipes and oil reservoir plus strip and clean the steering box(fitting a new seal kit of course on reassembly). Also I will try and fit a return oil filter. Disco GURUS, Have I missed anything? I have both emailed and faxed Paddocks with a small parts list but no reply yet from them. Is it summer holidays over there as I did not think 4 items on my list would be overally hard to respond to????? Apart from Paddocks, any recommendations on alternative parts suppliers in the UK eg famous four.
Out of interest, Paddocks have new PAS Pumps for 65Pounds. To purchase the same item here in Oz will cost me 150pounds. Must be the added gold plating.
Well thats my gripe for now.
I still enjoy driving the disco when it's not brokn down.
Cheers
John W.
