Hey up guys.
TLDR: How long can I driver without any PAS fluid (I am resigned to the fact I need a new pump). Will it damage anything?

Always been a weird hissing noise at full lock. Never thought anything of it. Tuesday night/ Wednesday morn massive squealing noise from o engine bay right where pas pump is.
Weds night, pas fluid all over car park drove it home 25 miles w no fluid. Filled up reservoir on Thursday lunch break, drove it back to office with pas working (feels like such a privilege with it working). Thursday night. It had all. All. Leaked out again whilst sat in car park. Been driving it since.

do you reckon it’s a hose or just the pump? any recommendations on diagnosing that?

TD5 with A/C factory ACE but previous owner removed it. 2003 auto.

Hi, usually the supply hose from tank to pump rubs to the engine at the bottom metal side where that rubber is and there it leaks, very common, happened to me twice, dont drive it without fluid cos the pump might get stuck and it can rip the belt

Right oh cheers mate. If I took the pump out would that work? Thinking about it wouldn’t that leave the belt slack?

First of all check if that hose is leaking or not cos if it is it's easy to be replaced and you can use any rubber hose instead untill you get a proper part cos there's no pressure in it, if you remove the pump i think you'll need a shorter belt

This happened to me too, in a different place.
and yes I fixed it the same way.
Be aware that holding a PAS on full lock for too long can do it no good at all.
But this is just an aside to your problem, which if you are lucky could cost you very little.

I did always hear a weird hissing sound when at full lock. Ignored it for 6 months (whilst trying to avoid full lock) … got me now :D

Thanks both
