I need to order some parts including serpentine belt for my 1996 110 300tdi engine which starts 16L4***** but all the online sellers state belts for engines up to 16L2*****

I cant find any for engine numbers 16L4 onwards, any ideas please?

err3287 upto16l 25164
err5911 from 16l 25165
depends on alternator pulley size ,and its common to find either belt fitted to either

Paddocks timing belts
Genuine £72
Dayco £9.90

Hey Leadfarmer,

timing belt or an ancillary belt? you said serpentine belt in the OP, which I would normally expect to be the ancillary belt. this has different lengths depending as JM said because of alternator pulley diameter.

Cheers

done an edit since you posted, LOL.#

Sorry to jump in, but...

What goes wrong with the crank pulleys, I've got a kit waitin for me to have time to fit it but there's no crank pulley???

Thanks

earlier engines used this pulley

and this tensioner

it was found it was better for belt to have the guides on the driving pulley and not the tensioner

Pulley was changed, original 300tdi did not have the flanges on the crank pulley, (JM can probably provide the engine numbers it was changed to one with flanges)

So the tensioner and crank pulley are different.

Do you know if yours was updated / changed?

I've just been and checked and my tensioner has no guides. It's a '99 t reg disco so I'm guessing that the crank pulley has the guides already so there's no need to change it???
