300tdi auto tyres

I've read through the tyre guide above and know which tyres fit, but just wondering what all you auto drivers are fitting to your disco's.
On a previous 300 manual I owned a few years ago I used the 235/85 without problems but was wondering if the gearing would be too bad for the auto box?
I should add that most of my offroading will be green lanes with an occasional pay & play

any help?

I run the standard size BFG muds on mine they seem to cope very well in all conditions

235/70 scorpions seem to do the job nicely

235 86 16 Malatesta Kaimans, but they need lots cutting off wheel wells and bumper ends.

lol thats fine, my old disco manual used to run on 235/85's and it was a great choice for driving in ruts etc from defenders

I run 265/70/16 BFG A/T's on mine. Needed to do a camel cut pre new suspension and adjust bump stops, but everything else ok (mines an auto too )

You don't find that your acceleration is more sluggish?

I now run 265/75/16 Cooper STTs on 8x16 rims with 35mm offset.
Road handling is absolutely spot on.

And yes, it's an auto.

thankyou, I feel a bit happier now that there are some good reports on bigger sizes with an auto

With heavy duty bumpers, sliders, expedition rack etc etc my acceleration ain't gonna be good at the best of times

But its good off the lights

I should add that mine is de-cat'd, de-EGR'd, fuel pump modified slightly, full width alloy intercooler and alloy air manifold to intercooler pipe.

I've just had the transfer box reconditioned and changed from a 1:222 ratio to a 1:410.
I'll report in the next few weeks how much of a difference that has made.

Hi wobble what tyre size did u go for in the end im running a 300auto with 2" lift now looking for big tyres. Would like 265/75/16 but affraid of ruing the acceleration and gearing

How does yours go now

Mines running 205 80 60 Cooper Discoverer AT.

Personally I like narrower tyres as most of what I do has hard stuff underneath mud and that size cuts through it nicely
