well time flys past so fast i thought i would have this engine running by now but alas things never go as planned, i was supposed to pick the engine and box up from the chap i bought it off at the end of November but he was struggling to get the engine and box out on his drive with no engine crane, cant say i blame him i would have struggle too, eventually he gave up and said i could have the whole disco for the same price, result, so then i had to get it collected and now i have to get the engine and box out, no such a good result lol but i have a big hairy forklift and some workshop space, out came the 9" grinder and the body is now in bite sized bits, i can lift the engine and box out of the chassis tomorrow with the forklift.
im trying to attach pics but it says i dont have permission whys dat den ?

thank you, im in the old farts club now am l lol

right this is how the disco arrived with all the wiring cut and hacked, that on its own is enough to send me down the route of a manual injection pump and injectors

so this little doohicky on the inner wing is connected to the throttle pedal on one side and a vacuum pipe on the other so i guess its some sort of damper that stops the throttle shutting to quickly if you lift your foot of sharply and upsetting the autobox downshifts ? thats just a guess as im an old fart ;)

i dont mind being an OF ive waited years to get to this age and im going to enjoy it :D:D:D:D

rest of the body is now gone, all neatly folded up with an excavator and popped in a box ready for disposal o_O

so dose anyone know of an adapter plate that would fit on the back of the gearbox when i remove the transfer box to convert it to 2wd (will be using a remote transfer ), or have i got to make my own ?

So does this mean that the whole vehicle will end up 2WD?
Or are you going to place the tranny box elewhere like in front of the rear axle so you still have 4wd?
Have to confess I can't see why anyone would get a Disco drive train and then convert it to 2WD.
But then peeps do all sorts of stuff for all sorts of reasons.;)

(Yes, I am fishing to find out what sort of a project this is!! );)
Are youy aiming to get an IVA on it?:eek::eek:

eeegods no it will be 4wd

transferbox will be in almost the same position maybe be back 150mm or 6" in OF language

well i quite like the 300 tdi engine and it will remain 4wd, its just if i used the LT230 box the front and rear axles would end up rotating in opposite directions, which is not that good for forward progress, or backwards for that matter
But then peeps do all sorts of stuff for all sorts of reasons.;)
indeed they do sir
