Hi and thanks for the reply, But on manuals you use 2 reference points on the casting and the pin in the pump and also the locking pin in fly wheel, but on autos theres no wading plug hole in bottom of box. So would very much apreciate any more help.:D
Thanks Clive.

you only need one either or on manual pin locks flywheel so holds it while you work but front mark is the same place but you have to be careful not to move it while fitting belt ,cam lines up with mark on casing pump with pin ,when belot is fitted turn over engine over twice and recheck marks reset tension and loosen 3 x pump bolts with pin in turn pump with big nut clockwise against pin then retighten bolts

But of course you don't need to and shouldn't!! There is access to a crankshaft alignment hole for a timing pin via a 4" round plate on the gearbox facing back, held in place by three 10mm bolts if my memory serves me well.

Take the plate off line up the holes and stick your pin in.

Cheers Big lad that sounds more like it.
Thanks Clive.

Clive, I've just checked in Rave and it says "If automatic gearbox: Sited at the rear of the engine sump on engine backplate is a blanking plate. Remove 2 blanking plate bolts and insert (Oooooooh Matron!!) timing tool into the larger bolt hole. Engage tool pin in slot in flywheel."

Hope that helps.

Dave

Hi, I’ve been trying this approach today. There are multiple holes in the flywheel. How do you know which one is TDC. The cam belt cover plate is still on, so I can’t use the other reference point that was mentioned o_O
