They are the same for each 3.0 Tdv6... though i dont think they'll fit to a TD4 as in your title:cool: ...as for the black smoke consider the MAF too and see if the EGR is not full of muck eventually clean the MAP sensor

Hmm maybe I lost a few cylinders - could explain the smoke!

No idea why I put that :D
It recently had a new MAF sensor - could it have been damaged due to an EGR issue?

No, the MAF controls the EGR not vice-versa but the MAP sensor can get very dirty due to the EGR also if the EGR is clogged these can be the cause of black smoke

may i ask a daft question plse

if the map sensor is blocked wouldn't that cause limp mode ,

could a split intercooler hose cause the smoke

hope u don't mind me asking, i'm still trying to get my head round the tdv6 engine ;)

this is a blocked map sensor for ur ref @bukko

easy to clean out with carb , map cleaner , don't put a screwdriver etc down the hole

Dirty MAP will read low that usually doesnt cause limp mode though depends how bad it is... more common symptoms are revealed in that link i posted...split intercooler hose can cause black smoke but together with loss of power. and maybe "air flow high" code as the suction exceeds the expected limits for the actual boost which is lower

many thks

put a pic up of my map, was blocked solid

slowly but surely getting my head round how things work on this engine, it petrified me at first having a big engine

know after blanking my egrs it made it a lot smoother

have now switched my synergy tuning box on, has 10 x settings , got it on number 1 at the moment

improved the turbo lag, comparing it to see how it runs for a month or so

wanted to make sure everything was running perfect before i turned the box on, not one for maxing tuning boxes out, just helping with the torque and possibly mpg

I'll be getting something like a Synergy box at some point.
I'm getting 29-30 mpg at the mo, interested to see if I can improve it.

Actually mine doesn't look that bad - assuming I have the right one?

that's the one, looks nice and clean already

wonder if ur egrs have been blanked already

don't know if u can fit a synergy tuning box to urs , being the eu6 engine , but might be wrong

may have to get a remap instead, think they are around £400 ,

getting 30 plus mpg on a disco is very good , think urs has the twin turbo set up

Yep it's the twin turbo.
I'm told it's an early version of the SDV6 engine that was fitted in TDV6 HSEs.

They charge £225 and even patch the EGR control to effectively software bypass it.
Will be giving them a call!

blimey thats a lot cheaper than other companies if they do the remap and patch for £225

About time the prices came down they have been to expensive for way to long

Just spoke to the guy.
Apparently it's £350 for the Disco 4 - something to do with needing to remove the chip because it's protected, or something.
But that does include the EGR patch.
