Hello, folks, i currently have 33's and was thinking of changing them to a smaller tyre, say 285/70/16.

but are the 285's actually taller?

i have a 4 inch lift but want to take it back down to 2, i also have flexi arches.

There is the option of 265's but i don't want them to look 'lost' in the wheel arch.

Thank you for any help :D

i use the disco quite a bit on the road at the moment, hence wanting to drop the lift etc.

285 is the width, 70 is % of the width as height of the sidewall

How i mean, is overall, are they taller once fitted to a rim and on the car.

i.e 30 inch tall

I measured them just now at 32 inch.

Measured a 265/75/16 at 30.5 inch overall.

Just want to make it more tow/road friendly

Just for your general info, 285/75/16 have a diameter of 834mm; whereas 265/75/16 have a diameter of 804mm ie approx 1.2inches smaller and a rolling radius 3.6% smaller. So they would lower your gearing and make towing that bit easier.

Fills the arches fine for me, although I am wanting to change to 265/75/16's BFG Muds or Maxxis Mud's when funds allow....

Stu, that's perfect yes. Thank you.

What offset are your wheels, i assume them to be 16x7?

Big lad, yes thank you, its more the height and centre of gravity too

Yes but if the diameter is smaller by for example 1.5 inches then the body height is 0.75 inches lower.

Stu, where did you get them from as I'm struggling to find 16x8 with that offset, only finding 16x7

Big lad, yes exactly plus I'll loose 2 inch from the lift too
