Hi all

Does anybody know where the fuel tank sender float should sit in my 200tdi Defender fuel tank. There is a small 'pool' or 'section' where the fuel pick up pipe goes into and the float is currently hard up against the side of the pool wall.

On a straight motorway or dual carriageway the fuel gauge will stay where it is for miles but as soon as I go around a roundabout or sharp bend the fuel gauge takes a nose dive. What I believe is happening is that the float is sticking because it's touching the wall of the pool and when agitated it goes back to normal.

I'm confused because the sender unit only goes in one way so I assume someone has bent the fuel sender bar in the past causing the float to sit against the wall.

Has anybody else had the same or is the float supposed to sit against the pool wall?

Cheers all :)

So it should be catching? And a sort of parallel offset?
