HI All, I'm new here, after reading lots of threads it finally time to write one in the hope of some help.
recently my 200tdi defender started losing power, it turns out there's air in the fuel.
I replaced the filter and fuel line from the tank to the lift pump as a friends told me its not uncommon to develop a small hole in the old hard plastic fuel lines. unfortunately its still happening, my suspicion is, its coming in from the sender unit. to test it, i stuck the fuel line directly in a can of diesel and hay presto no air.
so, the question is, the little nib sticking out of the sender unit the pipe attaches to is a bit wobbly or flexible, is that normal? should that be solid feeling?
i don't want to replace the sender unit if its not the culprit.
any advice most welcome.

You will have to remove the sender unit to check the pipes in the tank as it is possible they are fractured or corroded.
You can buy new standpipes so you can drill the tank next to the existing sender unit and have the supply from the new standpipe leaving the sender unit in place for the fuel level gauge

Thank you, I’ll give that a try.
