Buy bigger bits for less........my Dana 80 axle cost less than a locker......a rear Dana 60 could be had for less than a pair of new shafts and a diff which you've already broken.

If you knew you were going to punish this vehicle the smart man would have fitted a Dana and been done with it.

My rear axle I have sat here can take 2500lbs constant loading and 10,000lbs shock loading.......£275 + palleting was what it cost me and it'll now be subjected to 550+ ft/lbs (at least 3x your engines power, and it wont break)

Hey there's no need for all the arguing guys c'mon!!!! :D

I dont want to try and side with anyone but just want to say i've been off roading with these guys recently and they're all great guys, very knowledgeable, very friendly, very very good drivers from what i seen from them all when we were all out and they really do work as a great team when they're all out together :)
I can assure you that they're not out for trouble i had a great time and done a lot of driving.... it was all legal where we all went and i learnt an awful lot.

They've helped me a lot with my defender along with quite a few other people on here as i'm still learning and they're great to be around :)

Chatting on here doesnt really give anyone the best impressions of others ... everyones different in person.... Maybe a few of you should visit the site its really good :) (the legal parts of it of course)

Don't want to argue with anyone... just saying :)

its mods like these will be for the future , as I get more info on things like this I will then be able to do them

as said things need to be cheap , as it is im using leftover parts I have hanging around

correct job title or "semi skilled " whichever you prefer

has no bearing on my actual ability

Now nobody would give you greif if you said you were a trainee hgv mechanic, there's always something to learn however long people have been wielding spanners.

What is being said is that there is a better way, one that doesn't break things and is friendly on your pocket.

Whether it's embarassment or youthful inexperience, believe it or not it isn't a race to be the best- rather a sharing of ideas and experience.

+1 bravado rather than honesty is what gets peoples backs up

Yeller.....in a matter of weeks you've been stuck 3 times (4 if you include your self-recovery) and bust yer vehicle twice. I don't know where you think you are but you're gonna get a helluva lot of **** taking and some stick for that here.

You've received some good advice and had your questions answered in amongst it all.

Spit yer dummy about it and it won't go easy on you. If you can"t take it don't do it.....much like your vehicle really ;):D

Anyway moving on didn't pikey offer an engine cheap?

I did ask about that , must pm him

in response to your sensible post , im not rushing to try and be better than anybody else, I look to other members for guidance and experience when needed so certianally aint trying to offend or outdo them

yes my job title is trainee , as you said there is always more to learn anyway

as for my truck , usally it dosent break that much as I have been doing it in this vehicle every few days for months , only the last few weeks have I broken it , this time its not really the vehicles fault so for a standard truck its doing very well ,
