Total lack of mechanical sympothy and driving like a complete idiot causing entirely preventable situations.
Supposedly you work as hgv fitters-is that driving a broom?

mechanical sympathy? if u have seen where I go you will see why things get broken oh and as for preventable yeah sure lets just all stay on tarmac?

I expect things to get damaged/broken and stuck , these areas are not greenlanes these are more like trials/challenge areas

yes I do work as a HGV MECHANIC not a fitter , there is a difference and instead of bad mouthing how I am at my job see that for yourself also

instead of speculating about where I go and how I drive why not join me and see for yourself instead of bad mouthing over the internet?

back to topic , does anyone know if the 200tdi defender manifolds and turbo fit the 300 head and block?

That is actually worse, fitter just fits and a mechanic should know better- thanks for the offer for a ride out, I'll give it a miss as I don't want a section 59 and a long walk home.

Ignorance is one thing, stupidity is another- if I could boot this to anything goes from here I would.

There should be no need to regularly break your vehicle, or get stuck, even in very severe conditions, some people get good reliability even in comp sfari and challenges, and in hard working environments.

Two skills profiles are involved, how to prepare and maintain your vehicle is one. The other is how to drive it to maintain progress but without damaging it .

Sadly, nothing I have ever seen in your posts suggests to me that you have either.

LOL, getting a bit regular this mate .. ;-)

I enjoy hearing about your issues, makes me a bit jealous that you have so much off-roading available close to home, but then you remind me that too much of a good thing isn't necessarily all _that_ good sometimes!!

Hope you get it sorted .. but you keep doing what you do. Offroad reliability will come with experience of what works and what doesn't, FFS you're only about old enough to be my grandson so loads to learn .. ;)

Do you go with others who are more experienced, or who can show you different lines or techniques? Even a small bit of added experience and a little training might work wonders .. Not trying to be patronising, just trying to make suggestions rather than knocking you down!!

I had to cut this out with a plasma torch, after getting it out I found the rod had broken a chunk off the cylinder skirt, block was toast.
It ran with this in there, like a bag of spanners but it did run.

finally somebody who talks sense instead of midless criticism

what moest people aren't realising paul is that as im running a fairly standard truck components like halfshafts,cv's ect are common thing to break amoung other parts as in the environment I drive in it is extreme and theres no other way of putting it , comp trucks and challenge trucks are modified more so they can survive it better , it seems only you here seem to get that :)

generally my truck is pretty good at what it does considering the abuse it has , and as im in such harsh places its easy to misjudge by an inch and end up where you did not want to be , in this case its a river

I do go out with somebody who has had this land for 30 years and has a challenge truck with twin winches ,lockers ect , he also breaks things and gets stuck so you can imagine what the conditions are like ! I was with this person on Friday night when this happened,

oh and whoever posted the pic of the con rod , that's exactly what mine looks like ! and similar damage to the block !

no it means you abuse your vehicle ,either accept it and pay the costs or pay for improvements

how so , nobodies forcing you to put a std truck through what you do, failure is obvious ,accept it

no but this post is not for having a moan at me by everybody else its just boring

this topic was for a question

I put my truck through what I do because it costs thousands to get it completely sorted , I accept with things breaking , I also expect it

James this chap is what we would call a cretin as he digs a hole and keeps digging.

Your so full of ****, where was your challenge truck mate when you got stuck and pauldaff44 tried to help you.

Grow up,your neither a great mechanic or a good offroader, age and experience from JM make yours comment look like an idiot.

Also if your "a mechanic"- did you get a postal qualification? Because the breakages and lack of mechanical sympathy or understanding are frightening

i did answer the question , as long as you do accept abusing a vehicle costs ,then thats fair enough by me its your choice
