2009 L322 Rear Wiper problem

I recently refurbished my rear wiper motor, which when opened was very badly rusted. After derusting and freeing up the metal cogs etc, fitting new nylon drive cog and radial seal bearing in operates fine.
After reassembly, only problem I have now is when I start the vehicle with the wiper stalk in the off position (for the rear wiper) the wiper immediately starts to sweep.
Anyone know what I've done wrong.??
