2003 freelander will not start sometimes

You can drive it for an hour then turn it off.It might start then again it might not.You can wait anywhere from 1 minute to 15 minutes then it will start.It turns over but will not start.It does this one in ten times.I had it in the shop for a week and it would not do it for the mechanic.Can anyone help me
 
Had that issue after head Re-do, turned out to be a bad skim and water leaking through badly seated valves, Luckily sorted out by mechanic FOC.
 
thanx all but it seems to be starting all the time now....have other problems...water leaking from hose under centerhead and can't get at it maybe have to take alternator off is this a big job?

sounds like the KV6 to me, in fact I will take bets on it :D.
