So....new bolt in now was the top that was screwed.

O ring arrived this morning....where does it go?? Lol.

HPFP...where is it located on engine for me to take off and fit new rubber?

Thanks once again for all the help everyone has given...you all rock!!

my old car did this and it was the fuel pump in the tank
I agree with Teddywood, Sounds like fuel filter or pump but it depends if you know if it/they have been changed at all. I would start with the easy option of replacing the filter before you go over the top by replacing the engine

it is a job to take the high pressure pump off what year is you td4 I can not find it if you mentioned it if it is up to 2002 it will be in the tank with a up lift one under the bonnet with the filter next to it ,if it is later it is in the off side (in the UK) rear wheel arch and do your self a favor change the filter at the same time it is silly not to.

Hi,

It's a 2001 model...sorry I'm not the best when it comes to what's what on engine. I'm happy to turn my hand to anything though.

So you said tank...meaning in foot under carpet I will need to undo the circular plate???

Also you said pump on engine...that's on right and side by the ECU and battery??

Thanks

Been advised above to replace o ring in HPFP but where is this located??
It does not look like you need to remove the pump to change the regulator seals.

Have a look at this thread...

I don't know why the fella started a new thread - and I don't know why I replied on there rather than here - but these O rings seem to be possible problems a lot at the moment!

About 30mins in he shows you how to replace the pump and filter if its in the rear drivers side wheel arch :)

You dont need to remove the HPFP.
Its located on the left side of the engine behind/below oil filter. The regulator is on the end with an electrical connector going to it. 2torx bolts to remove.
It makes life a lot easier if you remove the inlet manifold and the starter motor
