hello all,

I was driving to work the other morning when my freelander jumped (like it was out of diesel) but came straight to life and within 20 feet engine cut and displayed engine management light.

I did try starting it but it just won't fire...normal engine ticking when key turned but just won't start.

Someone advise that it could be one or the sensors cam and crank shaft... I have changed both but management light stays on and still won't fire up...

Do I Need to clear fault once installed new parts or should it clear the code and light will disappear?

Please help....

Before clearing the fault. You want to do a diagnostic to find the problem. It's unusual for the engine to cut out and not restart.
What do you mean by "normal engine ticking" ?
They don't tick but should crank over.

We all suffer that on occasion;)
I think the HP regulator O ring could be the cause of this. If it split while the engine was running. I think it would stop and not restart. Definitely worth a tenner to try it first.
Worth a try for £10... is it easy fix?
I'm going all this myself off manual

Thank you both...

I have looked on Ebay for the Ring but seems to be bringing up everything including the kitchen sink...

Do you think that I have changed both sensors for nothing??

Would the code clear itself once fixed or will I still need to get someone with a scanner?

Thanks all

And that rubber could stop my Freelander from starting??

Well I'll be damned... guess it's not the first time a rubber stopped something!!

And once replaced will the engine management light go from dash or will it need clearing?

Thanks

The ECU will put the light out, once the fault has cleared. The ECU will log the fault for reference later on.
Which light is on. Red or amber? Have you read the codes.

Amber engine management light.

I have ordered the rubber so Waiting on that.

I have replaced sensors since I ordered them... cam and crank... for the love of god I can't get the bolt in on Crank sensor!!! I'm doing it from the top since I can't get under it!!! I get it in the hole but think I'm causing damage to the inner thread... don't know if I have fecked it... hours trying now!!!

Try putting the old crank sensor back in. If that works, then the new one is dimensionality incorrect.
