So I’m still trying to get my TD4 to start (cranking only, see other recent thread with data)…

Question; would a duff cam shaft sensor allow crank but prevent ignition completely? (Tries to fire on easy start but will not run at all).
I’ve just seen something on you tube back-probing the loom and the sensor. The vid shows ~12v between yellow and brown wires, then dropping to between 4 and 8v as the engine is cranked over.
Mine shows 12v on the loom direct when unplugged, but only 0.6 when plugged in and back-probed, dropping to 0.2’ish when cranking???

Duff sensor? Could it prevent ignition? Any way to bypass it, to rule in/out without getting a new one?

Got to be worth a go. I know you don't know what you're getting, but maybe once from a breakers if they are expensive. If it does fix it, great, but I don't suppose it would rule it out if its still failing.

While you're there a crank sensor to? If there is 1 on the TD4.

Yeah - there is a crank sensor, but not heard of them going that much. Cam sensors are a little more prone I believe.
The one on it is only a year old, but then I’m not certain it was a ‘known’ brand.
Just don’t want to keep trying parts randomly.

Certainly worth it if I can confirm the failure by voltage - just need someone who can confirm the numbers etc.

Bloody land rovers 😂

In this case, bloody Germans.

Answer is YES, a duff camshaft sensor CAN prevent ignition.
ECU has poor signal from it and cannot establish firing data for injectors.

Car will crank all day but not fire.
