Hi ya LW,

Think my RR has same problem but ATM it's in dock having head gaskets done.
I've got a Motor Spares shop in Brentwood so if ya fancy a trade that would be cool.

Cheers

Kev

Need to my seats done too, or at least the drivers one, I even got some 45 degree thermostats, but the temperature outside has plumeted too much for me to want to do this on my drive, but a seat-heater-change-party would be a giggle! I'm in south Hertfordshire so local enough :)

Right, OK, we need a venue. Kev, how big is your place and what facilities do ya have?

I'm thinking what we need is an outside area big enough to park whoever turns up and have room be able to strip out the seats, then an inside preferably heated place where the seats can be worked on, and I'm guessing this will be a simultanious job with most seats being worked on at the same time?

Parts - the heater elements can be repaired, it's usually busted wires, but some may want to replace the entire element pad, usually it's the seat base, plus if repairing the element it's best to upgrade the thermostat to a 45 degree item. Hog rings - last seat I did I managed to reuse the rings, using circlip pliers to open them and a small pair of waterpump pliers to refit them, fiddly but do-able. Using cable ties is another option, but I'd rather go for refitting hog rings. To make life easier, hog ring pliers can be had from Ebay for under £15, the rings are a few quid for a few hundred.

Time - best would be a bank holiday where most will be free to attend and little traffic too? A whole day will most probably be needed, an evening would be too short? I'd like to propose Tuesday December 27th?

I'm guessing most will be able to do their own seats, it's not too hard, those that are dubious can be given loads of advice and those that can't can twist someone's arm if they feed the barbecue and make tea/supply beer?

Of course everyone would be welcome to attend, even if you don't want to repair a seat. Lets have a forum meet up!

Sounds good to me but being ooop norf I would struggle to make a southern location in a day there and back but if a location is decided on I'll do my best.

It would be good to have some knowledge there to fall back on seeing as I'll need my driver's seat to get home Ha :)

If you all like you can use my place, i have enough room for 2 cars (3 at a squeeze ) on my drive post code is TW197TB (near Heathrow) close to M25, M3, M4, M40

The later P38 (same as mine) with side air bags fitted to the seats isn't an issue, disconnect the battery (ensure you have the EKA code to be safe)' wait 10 minutes and disconnect as per a non air-bag seat. But remember to move the seat forward before disconnecting the battery else you won't be able to get to the rear seat retaining bolts.

I suggested end of December to allow everyone to get organised, plus it's a day most people will not be at work. I'm looking for a venue currently, maybe my sons Scout Hut can be used........

.....now we're talking....count me in to....hot seat love in!!...I'm near you Dopey...like the thought of loads of us having a group go...good time to talk about other niggly little jobs...Internet Forums at their best!! Location could be a car park on a Sunday, bring a gazebo...

I be honest and say, I'm next to crap with electric, I think its the devils invention, and anyone that can help me out I would be well happy, there's plenty of places we can go to if there's far too many of us, but to be honest, I'm sure we will have more than enough room at my place (" and you can the all admire my swanky new headlining and say things like ohhh ahhh, look you ****ed that bit up didn't you")

My drivers seat didn't heat......but now thanks to reading this thread, the Rangerovers.net site and ten minutes of my time, I have managed to get the drivers seat back working and diagnosed that the seat bottom has a break or breaks in it.

Just working, "No", it's positively roasting!!:clap2::clap2:..........and it's hotter than the passenger side, but I'm not going to tell the missus that!!!!:D

When I get a spare day and I'm going to see if I can repair the seat bottom. Looking at the instructions it's not rocket science, just fiddly and requiring patience (famous last words!!!)

I'll let you know how I get on.

Cheers

I'm trying to locate a small hall for the venue with a car park local, meeting at someone's house probably wouldn't work, the seats are large, and a domestic location would maybe permit 1 or 2 to be worked on at the same time, then add 12 or so bodies and I can see this not working. A small hall is needed, even a commercial workshop may not work as the floor wouldn't be clean, and my Lightstone leather wouldn't take too kindly to oil stains. Early days yet, lets see what I can come up with. Any location I can find will be in South Hertfordshire, north of the M25, pick up the A1(M) from M25 junction 23 for a few miles.
